My main research interest is Machine Learning (ML) and its application to practical problems. Relatively a new approach to AI. ML has risen to popularity in the last decade, and is becoming a robust stratregy for solving many problems. I am interested in techniques like Support Vector Machines (SVM), Graphical Models, k-nearest neighbor, etc. I am interested in Machine Learning as an engineering discipline, that is the usefulness of creating applications that resemble the human intelligence,
I am also interested in Information Retrieval and Processing and Knowledge Discovery in Data (KDD);
So far I have worked with SVM, what I’ve got left is to fully understand the methods of solving QPs and some esoteric variations of the Vapnik’s classical approach. It is my desire to know more about the whole field and find clever applications of the method and improve the existing ones.
As undergrad I worked in the the parallelization of Transductive SVM for Text Categorization. I will upload both the thesis and the code soon.

Other Technical Interests
As Machine Learning is used generally to process an analyze very large amounts of data, the methods for processing it generally includes parallel and distributed computing, distributed storage. For that reason I find very attractive all the fields that their goal or are is in someway to process/distill/transform data. These fields include Data Mining, Text Mining, Parallel Computing, Information Retrieval, Web as a platform and so on. I am very open-minded person :-).
I am interested in so-called script languages and light software. Languages like Ruby, Lua, Javascript, Python and even Scheme, altough I don’t see them as Research Interest.
Although I work as Software Analyst, I don’t consider myself as Software Engineer. Nevertheless, I am very interested in Software Engineering processes and methodology. more than that, I am very interested in finding ways of improving the software development process and programming software products that satisfy both the engineers and the client. I like to work in structured albeit in a agile way, for that reason I am very interested in agile and light methodologies such as XP and FDD.
